How do I see my body?

The Discussion Experiment

Invitation by Igor

How do we relate to our own body? Do we see it as part of ourselves, as a tool, a problem or a construction site, as the thing that is supposed to make us desirable, or simply as the thing that carries our head around?

In our next discussion we will collect and explore the different ways we perceive and think about our body. And to make things even more interesting, we will incorporate several interventions of silence and introspection into this discussion.

For this event, I’ve teamed up with Regina Hörner, who, among other things, organizes silent retreats and studies philosophy (check out her offerings on her website: IKEBUNY).

Join us for an insightful evening!

There will be 2 independent sessions:  one in German (2 Nov) one in English (5 Nov) – join either or both. Find out more in the FAQ below, or send me an email if you have any questions!

Each event is a an experiment so it’s difficult to predict exactly how it will play out or feel.

This specific event is designed to provide a calm and trusting atmosphere in which we can share our thoughts on a topic that concerns us all, explore different perspectives, and learn more about ourselves.

The exchange will be very structured, as the purpose of this event series is to find rules that help make such events as meaningful as possible.

This event is for anyone who is curious about the topic and/or the concept.

We aim to create spaces where people of all ages, identities, and backgrounds feel welcome.

You don’t need to prepare anything, have strong opinions, or be extroverted to take part.

It’s perfectly fine to just listen. You can decide for yourself at any time how active you want to be and will not be asked to speak. However, there might be breakout groups, i.e. short segments in which all participants talk in groups of 2-3 people. You do not have to participate in these; you can use the time for a break instead.

Each event lasts between 1.5 and 2 hours. Feel free to stay a bit longer to finish the snacks, chat with other participants, and deepen the conversation.

The venue is on the ground floor and accessible with wheelchairs. However, there are unfortunately no wheelchair-accessible bathrooms!

The Discussion Experiment is an ongoing series of events through which we continuously test methods that foster more meaningful and inspiring group conversations.

Among other things, we experiment with techniques that slow down discussions, improve clarity, and support participants in expressing their ideas more effectively.
