Live Music Complaint Party
Let‘s rant, whine and complain together!

The Discussion Experiment

Invitation by Igor

The Discussion Experiment is a project in which we are exploring methods to have more meaningful, insightful discussions.

And sometimes the best way to understand each other is to complain together (and have fun with it). For exactly that reason, we are having another live music complaint party:

This event will be our stage to let it all out and rant about everything that’s currently shitty, sad, frustrating, annoying, infuriating, maddening, disheartening, inconvenient, fucked up, and/or insufferable.

And: We will have three musicians who will underscore our ranting and whining! The amazing Emanuele, Eric, and Rochelle will be co-hosting this event and will improvise on the keyboard, bass, and drums for us.

We’ll take turns complaining about everything — from the tiniest personal inconveniences to the never-ending global polycrisis.

You can actively participate or just listen. You can bring a list of complaints or improvise on the spot.

We might touch on all kinds of painful topics, but we’ll probably laugh a lot while doing it. (Please note that openness and dark humor are welcome, but discriminatory humor is not.)

Each event is a an experiment so it’s difficult to predict exactly how it will play out or feel.

This specific event is intended to provide an opportunity to vent, but at the same time, we want to try to keep it fun and humorous.

Please note that individual participants may also bring up very personal and difficult topics. Please be cautious if you have trouble with dark humor or if there are topics that make you uncomfortable when they’re being talked or joked about.

This event is for anyone who likes this idea and is curious about the event. If you are considering complaining, your complaints do not need to be “original” or “special.” Anything that bothers you is good enough!

The Discussion Experiment is an ongoing series of events through which we continuously test methods that foster more meaningful and inspiring group conversations.

Among other things, we experiment with techniques that slow down discussions, improve clarity, and support participants in expressing their ideas more effectively.

Read more about it on the main page. This project is run by Igor Don and Maria Scholze.

It’s perfectly fine to just listen. You can decide for yourself at any time how active you want to be and will not be asked to speak.

Each event lasts between 1.5 and 2 hours. Feel free to stay a bit longer to finish the snacks, chat with other participants, and deepen the conversation.

The venue is on the ground floor and accessible with wheelchairs. However, there are unfortunately no wheelchair-accessible bathrooms!
